The scenographic concept for the new Museum of Fine Arts of Reims focused on the planning of the permanent collection spaces. The building has been conceived by David Chipperfield Architects with a transluscent glass/white marble facade and three naves closed by shed roofs. The permanent collection was spread across the 2nd and the 4th floor of the building. Masterpieces from the collection of the art museum in Reims are for example early works from Cranach (16st C), the ceramic collection of Madame Pommery (18st C) and contemporary artworks, among others from the French-Japanese artist Léonard Foujita.
The scenography of the museum spaces was based on free partition walls with a maximal width of four meters that allowed us to present the masterpieces in the foreground, but also to open the spaces and to create visual relationships between the different sections.
